Hi, my name is Ashleigh. I am a 20 year old Leader who has just taken over my own Rainbow Unit. I have been volunteering for Girl Guiding since December 2013 and gained my full leadership for Brownies in July 2014. Since then I have been a secondary leader for my local Brownie Unit.
I have loved doing badges with the girls, going on trips and adventures and playing games, but I always thought that Brownies would be the perfect age for me, not to young and not to old. So when I was asked to help run a Rainbow Unit for a short period of time while other leaders were unavailable, I was a little reluctant to say yes. But I couldn’t let a Rainbow unit close so I took the chance.
6 months later, I had fallen in love and I was asked if I would like to take it over the unit as my own, as the other leader was going to help the Brownie Unit that runs at the same time as us. So now I run a Rainbow Unit and help run a Brownie Unit on two nights of the week. It keeps me busy and takes a lot of planning, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I now run the unit with my younger sister who has just gained her Rainbow Leadership qualification!
